Collection and Analysis of the Verbal & Written Cultural Products of Karamanian Orthodox Turks
It derives from the Turkish name Karamanli, which means "Karamanian", "someone from Karaman"
, a province in Turkey in Turkish. There was a big population of Orthodox Christian Turks in this province and its surrounding areas . They were truly Turks because they spoke only Turkish and didn't knew Greek; their culture, traditional clothes, cuisine, folk musics, folk dances were Turkic.
Significance of the Project:
The project is essential because it provides with invaluable data regarding Turkish belief and thought systems, which have undergone various processes depending on geographical and religious factors as well as their socio-cultural life. Furthermore, it is of vital importance in that it is expected to be a source of reference for those interested by revealing invaluable insights into Turkish cultural richness
Objective of the Project:
We aim to study the socio-cultural life of the Orthodox Karamanli Turks, their immigration adventures, oral and written cultural products by integrated and interdisciplinary means.
